Losing weight can sometimes be an uphill battle, how and when to take the first step - and actually sticking to your desired fitness plan. Possibly the biggest factor is encouragement, or lack of it. It is so much easier to put off your get fit regime until tomorrow, but as we know tomorrow never comes. You obviously have an interest in your health and fitness, quite righlty so - or you would'nt be reading this! So do the right thing for your body and put into practise what you really know you should be doing.

Joining an exercise programme may cause some concern, this is a major reason for many why they do not reach the first step. Answer this question truthfully. Are you worried that you may look silly in front of total strangers  - are you worried that other people may laugh at you? Everybody in the room has one goal - that is to achieve fitness and lose weight, do not let your own insecurities be an obstancle, let them be a driver. Everybody in the room is either in or has been in your situation. This is ideal opportunity to make friends and find a fitness partner.

Another factor that may stop you from joining a fitness programme is that it may appear to be too much like hard work or boring. This is no excuse, a fitness programme does not have to involve running on a treadmill for hours on end. Speak to your tutor or instructor, he or she will devise a plan to keep you interested. Do you like swimming? Do you like dancing? Do you like sports? these are just some of the activities that you could be doing - highly enjoyable and beneficial at the same time, far from boring. Is swimming hard work?

  • Choosing A Fitness Instructor - Sometimes you can strike a relationship with someone from the outset - sometimes it takes a little longer and some cases not at all - it is important to find a fitness tutor that feel you will get a long with as he or she will play a very important role in your life from on. Dont just choose the first programme that you discover, there are plently out there, choose one that suits and make you feel comfortable.

  • Pricing - Check the pricing, differnt programmes will vary geatly in cost - look for long term discounts or membership.

  • Solo Or With A Partner - Big decision this, are you going to go alone or with a friend. Remember encouragement and motivation plays a big part. taking a partner get help you over come the initial embarrassment.

If you follow the above tips you stand a greater chance of acheiving your weight loss and fitness goals. Although exercise through a fitness programme helps enormously it is only one half of the battle. You can achieve a healthy outside, but what about a healthier inside.
