Xenical Orlistat
Prescription Weight Loss Pills
Xenical is a prescription only weight loss tablet and cannot be bought freely over the counter or via the internet - if you do discover somewhere that sells Xenical without prescription it is either fraudulent or illegal.
Xenical is not a weight loss solution for people who need only to shed a few pounds. It is targeted primarly for the overweight who border on the obese. It is highly unlikely that your doctor will prescribe the medication if you do not fit into this criteria. If you have a Body Mass Index of 30 or greater you may be considered a suitable candidate. You can check your Body Max Index (BMI) here
How does Xenical Work
Excessive amounts of fat and calories are stored in the body, this is the obvious cause of weight gain. When fat is consumed it is broken down by the body into the lowest common denominator so it can be digested. Xenical, unlike other weight loss medications that effect the brains rationale into fooling the stomach that it is full, works solely in the digestive system and blocks approximately a third of the fat intake.
In the digestive system there are enzymes called Lipases - these help to break down the fat. When Xenical is taken with food it will attach itself to the lipasas and stops them from digesting the food that you have eaten. The undigested fat can then pass through your body.
Is Xenical Effective As A Weight Loss Pill
A resounding yes. Xenical is the slimming tablet of choice for most GP's and doctors. It has been thoroughly and clinically tested and does not contain any serious side effects. The only negatives are that it cannot purchased freely and is only availbable via prescription and to the obese. So a relatively small percentage of people who want to lose weight enjoy the benefit.
Does Xenical Contain Any Side Effects
Although Xenical does not contain any serious side effects some will experience unsusual bowel movements. This should not be cause for concern as this is a byproduct of the enzymes blocking the fat intake allowing them to pass naturally through your body.
Alternatives To Xenical
There are other products that work in the exact same way to Xenical in so much as they are not appetite suppressants but rely on the fat binding technique as explained above. Doctors and GP's are more inclined to not prescribe than prescribe this drug is, as we have learnt, aimed primarily at the clinically overweight.
Alternatives do exist though - please visit our diet pills review page for a summary of the recommended slimming or diet pills available to purchase freely without restriction. It is of upmost importance to never exceed the stated dose - you will not lose weight any quicker.
